It’s Only Words

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

Whether it’s conflicting positions on environmental policy, the treatment of Taliban prisoners, or who’s going to trigger the next election, the media are always ready to give us their opinions, even if we don’t want them.
The Canadian Liberal media doesn’t try particularly hard to hide their bias.  Whenever the Conservative government announces new policy, the media do [...]

More Liberal Media Bias…

Friday, April 27th, 2007

It seems that CanWest Global, part of the Liberal’s media division, has commissioned a poll through Ipsos-Reid.  I don’t normally read much into the results of polls, and that’s not the point of this post anyway.  What I find interesting, although not surprising, is the how the results are presented.
The National Post tells us that…
Tories fail [...]

Slush Fund Charge Tarnishes Liberal Image?

Friday, April 27th, 2007

While browsing National Newswatch this morning, I found this headline very funny.
The Toronto Star headline reads…
‘Slush fund’ charge tarnishes Liberal image.
Are they implying that the Liberal image was not already tarnished?  We’re talking about Canada’s Corruption Party here!  These Liberal scandals should upset Canadians, but by now, they really shouldn’t be surprised by them.
Perhaps the [...]

The Federal Conservative’s Environmental Plan

Friday, April 27th, 2007

Yesterday, Environment Minister John Baird released the Conservatives new environmental plan.  As expected, not everybody likes it.  That’s not a bad thing.
Given how the very vocal environmental eco-nuts don’t care much about the economy, they will complain the plan doesn’t go far enough.  They only have one cause and one concern.  In fact, I would expect that [...]

Wow! Doesn’t That Look Great?

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

Dalton McGuinty has come up with another bright idea!  In an effort to save energy, Ontario will ban the sale of incandescent lightbulbs by 2012.  The Ontario government wants us to switch to more efficient compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs) so much, that the Ontario Power Authority is offering rebates of $3 on every package of bulbs purchased.
Trying to [...]

I’m Told that I Want a Carbon Tax!

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

David Suzuki has declared that Canadians are ready for a carbon tax.  Really?  I’m a Canadian, and I’m certainly not ready for a carbon tax?  Yet according to the prophet Suzuki, who is indeed a true legend in his own mind, tells us that Canadians overwhelmingly support a carbon tax!
“We met over 30,000 Canadians.  They [...]

Does Jack Layton Really Want to Ban ATM Fees?

Friday, April 20th, 2007

Does Jack Layton seriously want to pass legislation to ban ATM fees?  Note to Jack:  Your party has come up with some pretty stupid ideas over the years, but this one is crazy, even by NDP standards.
Therefore, I’m going to give Jack! the benefit of the doubt, and assume that his real motive is not to actually ban the fees.  [...]
