Iggy the Spoiled Child

By Dave Hodson | February 18, 2009

Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff, sounding like a spoiled little child, is apparently upset that his meeting tomorrow with US President Barack Obama will only be 15 minutes in length.  He feels entitled to a 20-minute meeting.  His reasoning…  that’s the length of time Stephen Harper met with President Bush in 2004.

Ignatieff says that’s what Prime Minister Stephen Harper got as Opposition leader when he met with then U.S.-president George W. Bush in 2004 just off Parliament Hill.

Iggy sounds a lot like a child complaining to his mother that his big brother got a slightly larger piece of cake after dinner.  As Stephane Dion would say…  “This is not fair!”

Besides, if you want to start splitting hairs like little children, Iggy will be getting a larger proportion of the President’s time than Harper had when he was opposition leader.  The 2004 visit with President Bush lasted something like 26 hours, compared to President Obama’s visit, which is expected to last only 6 hours in total.

Grow up.

Does anyone else find this embarassing? Iggy and Rae chasing down the president. Let Canada have some dignity.

I bet when then opposition leader Stephen Harper met George W. Bush in 2004 it wasn’t a 5 or 6 hour drop in visit but a lot longer timetable. Iggy is a nut and his right hand man is even worse. They probably scheduled Iggy last to give the President the opportunity to be grateful for the more dignified hours he had before his Iggy encounter.

maryT made a great point at chuckers:

‘If it isn’t his job to have input into the budget or stimulus pkg, why is it his job to meet with O.’

you’ve been picked up by Liblogs Dave,

Hmmm. Must be a sensitive topic to the Libs!

It’s funny how Liberals love to throw terms like ‘petulant’ at Harper, but it seems the only one throwing a tantrum here is their benevolent leader. Does their culture of entitlement ever end? The guy wasn’t even elected leader of his own party, let alone the country, and he thinks he should be given more time to meet with a foreign head of state. And when he doesn’t get the amount of time he feels he’s entitled to, he whines about it. Pathetic!

Remember that Ignatieff speaks for no one tomorrow.
Not even the support base and membership of his party.

He doesn’t deserve 5 minutes and should be grateful for what he gets.
