Be Proud of Your Canadian Flag!
By Dave Hodson | July 1, 2007
During the days leading up to Canada Day, I asked my readers and fellow bloggers to submit photos of their Canadian Flags. Below is a collection of the photos I received, along with some interesting stories about them.
This page is my tribute to Canada’s 140th birthday, July 1, 2007.
If you didn’t get around to submitting your photos, don’t worry, because you still can. The Canadian Flag is something to be proud of throughout the year, not just on July 1. So please continue to send me your Canadian Flag photos and stories to flags@exactlyright.ca, and I’ll add them to the collection. This page will be an ongoing feature here at Exactly Right.
Canada is a fantastic country, and we should feel proud and privileged to live here. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. And if this website and my repeated pleas for Canadian Flag photos has inspired even one person to raise a flag in honour of this great country, then my project has been a success!
God Bless Canada!

This is my own flag, which is flown from the front wall of my house. Some day I hope to have a larger property that will allow for a proper freestanding flagpole on the front lawn, but for now, I’m proud to fly the Canadian Flag any way I can!

Above is the same flag, but as seen from the sidewalk in front of the house.

Neil told me a very interesting story about his flag, which I am reproducing here, with his permission. Thank you Neil for sharing this.
My flag photo was actually taken about 12 years ago when I lived in Botswana in southern Africa. I wanted to celebrate Canada Day so I put an ad in the local paper and got about forty Canadians out to the Gaborone Game Reserve where we celebrated all day and made lots of new friends to watch the next three Grey Cups with. I never knew there were that many Canadians living in the city. That’s me in the blue sweater.
The flag was donated by the Canadian Consulate in Zimbabwe and they even sent music sheets. I used the flag for three more Canada Day celebrations and then brought it home with me to fly during the summer. I retired it after ten years as it was becoming a bit tattered but I still trot it out on very special occasions to either run up the flagpole in our back yard or hang it from the clothesline.

Here’s a great shot of a flag on Neil’s van, taken at the Welland Canal while a ship passes by, also proudly flying the Maple Leaf.

John says his Canadian Flags have been in his bedroon window 24/7 for the past year, and they will remain there over July 1 as he and his wife return to Canada.

This is a nice Canadian flag showcase. Thanks for prodding me to fly my colours.

Steve,
Thank you for contributing your flag to the collection. Hopefully, we’ll have 10 times as many pictures by next Canada Day!

to Alf in Alberta ~ I’m from the USA; thank you for remembering us on July 4th!! One tid-bit though; the union (stars) should face to the left. BTW ~ I’m in love with a really great guy and he’s from Alberta!! I wish I would have known sooner in life that I’d have to travel to Canada to find true love. . .
